From: Greater Houston Pool Management - 2005

Believe it or not, summer is quickly approaching, and soon you’ll be lounging around the pool. The management team of Greater Houston Pool Management, Inc. is delighted to be returning to White Oak Landing.

Our goal every summer is best defined by our mission statement: SAFETY IS OUR #1 PRIORITY!!! We are also committed to treating our customers with a pleasant and courteous service, as they enjoy their clean swimming environment. We feel communication is the key. Please don’t hesitate to contact our office at anytime concerning our service (713) 771-POOL.

To help ensure a safe and fun summer for everyone, Greater Houston Pool Management would like to remind you of a few facility and safety reminders:

1. Parents must closely supervise their children at all times. Remember, it only takes seconds for a child to drown.

2. Don’t allow children to play with or around the main drain. The main drain suction can be very powerful, and has been known to cause severe injuries, and in some cases death.

3. The safety of the children in the baby pool are the parents or guardians responsibility. The lifeguards will always enforce the pool rules throughout the facility, but children who cannot swim must have an adult within arms reach at all times. The same rule applies even if the child is wearing a floatation device.

4. Define a safe zone for your children where they can always touch the bottom. One of the most common saves a lifeguard must make is when a swimmer strays to an area that is too deep for them to stand.

5. Do not dive in areas marked “NO DIVING”. Nearly 90 percent of all spinal injuries occur in the shallow end of the pool.

6. Breath holding games can be very dangerous and may cause cardiac arrhythmia or seizures. Games like who can hold their breath the longest, and swimming the longest distance underwater should be avoided at all times.

7. Pool tag use will be strictly enforced. It is the member’s responsibility to bring them to the pool. It is a very awkward and uncomfortable situation for everyone when the lifeguard must ask a member to go back home to get his or her pool tags.

8. Remember that there are several different types of people who like to use the pool throughout the summer. Both young and old, everyone wants to have a good time.

9. If you should ever have a question about the pool rules, ask a lifeguard or manager. It is better to be safe then sorry!!!

10. Have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Our staff at Greater Houston Pool Management is committed to making sure the homeowners of White Oak Landing have a great summer at the pool. Please take the time to introduce yourself to the pool staff. We would love to know the clients we so proudly serve.

Child Flotation Devices
Greater Houston Pool Management recommends the use of coast guard approved floatation devices for children who are floatation device dependent. The lifeguards will not allow "floaties" to be used in the swimming pool for small children. The White Oak Landing Homeowners Association will purchase some "coast guard approved" life vests for those residents who come to the pool and are not aware of this new recommendation. These life vests may be checked out while at the pool. Please help by complying with this safety recommendation and do not rely on these supplied vests always being available. There are a many "coast guard approved" floatation devices available at stores. When you go to purchase one, please look for the label "coast guard approved".

Swim Lessons

Greater Houston Pool Management proudly offers swim lessons for all levels. Group and private lessons will be available throughout the summer. Group class sizes range from 3 to 6 students per instructor. Each session consists of eight 40-minute lessons. The price for group lessons will be $60 per student. For more information concerning swim lessons, visit our website at http://greaterhoustonpool.com, or contact our swim lesson hotline at (713) 464-7946.

Pool Parties

The  pool will be available this summer for private after hour pool parties. Pool party request forms will be available at the pool or register on our website at greaterhoustonpool.com. To make sure we are able to staff your party, we need a minimum of two weeks advance notice. For more information concerning pool parties, check with the pool manager, or contact our pool party hotline at (713) 464-7946.

  • Pool Rules

1. All swimmers must have a swim tag.
2. Proper swim attire is required. No cutoff shorts. T-shirts are permitted at lifeguard's discretion.
3. Any child under eight (8) years of age must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.
4. No pets, bikes, skateboards, etc. inside the pool area.
5. No eating, drinking, or chewing gum in the pool water. No alcohol is allowed in the pool area.
6. No glass articles are allowed anywhere in the pool area
7. No running, rough-housing, loud music, inappropriate language, or other disruptions in the pool.
8. No head-first diving or cannonballs in less than five (5) feet of water.
9. The baby pool is for children five (5) years old and under.
10. It is the responsibility of the lifeguard to discipline a swimmer or guest for any reason.

OTHER POOL NOTES:
§ Swim tags must be worn on swimsuits so they are visible to the lifeguard. If you are not wearing a tag, the lifeguard is instructed to deny you access to the pool area until you return with your tag.
§ If you are planing a regular group event that will utilize the pool during regularly scheduled hours and involves more than twenty (20) people (adults/children), contact the pool liaison at least one (I) week in advance so proper lifeguard coverage can be arranged.
§ Groups wanting to rent the pool area for PRIVATE celebrations, meetings, etc. must schedule them at least one week in advance. These events must be held during hours that the pool is normally closed.
§ Trash from fast food deliveries such as Pizza must be thrown away and picnic areas cleaned. Repeat offenders will be prohibited from receiving orders at the pool area at the lifeguards discretion. This also applies to people who bring food from home.
§ NOTICE: If the number of persons inside the pool fence area exceeds a 20:1 (person to lifeguard) ratio, the lifeguard(s) are required to AND WILL deny pool access to meet this 20:1 ratio. Accommodation for all pool users vs. our desire to reduce lifeguard costs this year is a delicate balance. We do not have a crystal ball to know how many lifeguards to schedule. We must still meet these guidelines regarding pool capacity vs. supervision, hence this notification.
§ All baby-sitters who bring children must be at least eighteen (18) years old (per rule #3).

ADDITIONAL SAFETY NOTES:
§ A relatively new pool toy called a Torpedo is made of solid rubber and is very heavy. It is designed to be pushed through the water and is not to be thrown in the air,
§ Use caution when walking on the wooden decks. When walking in bare feet you may be subject to splinters.
§ Do not let your children walk on the top of the bench near the baby pool. The fence posts are pointy and could cause injury.

Let's work together to make this a fun, successful and safe season.

The Board of Directors will distribute pool tags at the park again this year for your convenience.

Pool Tags will be distributed at the park on the following dates and times:

  • Saturday May 7th 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

  • Thursday May 12th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Tags will be issued only to the homeowner (children will not be given the tags).

All Homeowners Association fees must be paid in full prior to tags being issued. If you have recently paid your dues and/or late fees, please bring your receipt with you or call AMI prior to distribution dates to ensure that your account has been properly credited.

If you paid your Assessments after January 31, 2006 please be sure that all interest and late fees are paid in full prior to picking up your pool tags.

After the dates listed above, pool tags will be available only at the offices of Association Management. AMI can be reached for directions and hours of operation at (713) 932-1122.

Lifeguards will not be authorized to allow anyone without a tag into the swimming pool regardless of circumstances so be sure to pick up your tags prior to opening day on May 28th.

Remember: Children 10 years of age and older and all adults must have a pool tag to enter the pool gates.
